Cause

Our work, grounded in environmental justice, mobilizes and supports collective action to protect the Salish Sea region.

We do this through outreach, education, legal action, policy change, and - most importantly - being active on the ground in communities to mobilize around our most pressing environmental and community needs.

The Salish Sea is one of the most biologically rich ecosystems in the world with over 3,000 species, including 125 at risk species, such as Southern Resident orcas and wild salmon. At the same time, there are 2.7 million people living in South Coast BC who are affected by the health of the ocean, including residents, industries, Coast Salish First Nations, tourists, and boaters.

These diverse communities of people, wildlife and habitats are impacted in different ways by the many environmental threats facing the Salish Sea. Urbanization, industrial mega projects, open-pen fishing, and the broader climate crisis are all putting pressure on ecosystems and communities in the Salish Sea region.
